Japan Top Weekly Manga Ranking: March 1, 2021 ~ March 7, 2021

Well, there we go. With the momentum the Jujutsu Kaisen has been showing as of late, and the fact that the Anime is almost done airing, it was without a doubt that the latest volume will see some serious growth. Nevertheless, this beats my expectation. While, it was predicted to breach the 1 million copies mark, I did not expect it to do this fast. Note that, Volume 14 sold 637,308 copies in its first week, Volume 15 marks a 44% increase over the debut sales made by Volume 14. We can expect newer volumes to sell at least that many copies from now onward (unless something happens).

Apart from that, other volumes too rallied alongside Volume 15 to post considerable growth, week-on-week. The series as a whole sold a whopping 3,179,952 copies for the week alone! Including the Fanbook and Volume 0.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! The week’s data can be accessed via these links right here (Series) and here (Manga).

Chainsaw Man‘s final and latest Volume 11 trails closely behind both Jujutsu Kaisen‘s releases at number 3 as it closes the week with 328,038 copies sold. The highest it has ever achieved in its first week. MAPPA has been handed the baton for the production of its Anime and the sequel to its Manga is set to launch via Shounen Jump Plus online. However, the most interesting and I would really like to point out is Kaiju No. 8. When Volume 1 first came out, it sold only 90,831 copies in its first week. This contrast significantly with the number copies pumped out by Volume 2 where the difference between Volume 1 and Volume 2 debut sales is just staggering. Volume 2 sold 69.87%, more than doubled sales of Volume 1 in its first week. Considering the fact the an Anime adaptation has not been announced nor aired, this is quite the amazing feat.

For those of you who have problems viewing the charts, I have included direct links to the charts down below, so do have a look at it. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:

    1. Hmmm I don’t think that would happen. Kimetsu no Yaiba sales were still going strong after the Anime’s season 1 ended. And from the looks of it, I think we may receive a sequel/sequels due to the success of the first season.

    1. Ahh that is certainly very hard to say. Anything that makes the Top 50 may not see themselves being canceled, but it really depends on the publishing companies. I am not sure what are their policies with regards to series cancellations and I am sure they will have to consider many factors.

  1. Chainsaw Man ta with great numbers in backlog
    Volume 01 – 744,232
    Volume 02 – 692,193
    Volume 03 – 651,609
    Volume 04 – 622,552
    Volume 05 – 601,555
    Volume 06 – 577,521
    Volume 07 – 458,728 (outdated)
    Volume 08 – 530,838
    Volume 09 – 521,510
    Volume 10 – 486,101

    1. Oh! Are these cumulative sales to date? Maybe I can include your projected numbers for some of the series you have tracked. And yes, these are great numbers indeed.

      1. Yes, they are cumulative sales. I recommend using these numbers after obtaining the most updated sales for volume 7 lol

      2. Nice! Maybe when reviewing some the titles next week, I can see if I can incorporate them into some of the analyses. Thanks Sakura! 😁😁
