Japan Top Weekly Manga Ranking: July 4, 2022 ~ July 10, 2022

Boku no Hero Academia Volume 35 leads new releases for the week between July 4 and July 10, sitting atop of the list at 382,723 copies sold in its first week, however copies sold are pale in comparison to its past three volumes with the same number of days of sales. The latest volume sees its performance slide by 14.17% against Volume 34 which debuted in May this year at 445,910 copies sold in its first week. Volume 35 is also 10.93% and 15.46% weaker than Volumes 29 and 32, both in their first week of sales. The work by Kouhei Horikoshi has been serialized in the Weekly Shounen Jump magazine since July 2014 with more information about the title can be accessed via its official webpage right here. At the same time, its first chapter can be read via the same platform for free in Japanese here. However, if you are looking for its official English translation, you can check out its chapters via Manga Plus. The Manga is also said to have entered its “Final Act” when it was announced last year (Source: ANN). The series has 65 million copies in print (Source: Famitsu) and has been blessed with consistent Anime adaptations, produced by studio Bones. Its sixth season is set to broadcast soon this coming Fall.

Kaijuu 8-gou Volume 7 is 2nd on the list with 312,060 copies sold in its first week. When compared to its relatively short debut sales for Volumes 1 and 3 to 6, its sales performance has not been as impressive as before. The 7-day sales it has for Volume 7 for the week is nearly 2.5 times stronger than Volume 1’s 3-day sales, but it is 2.17 and 6.12% less than the performances of Volumes 3 and 4. Its latest volume is also a minor improvement over the 3-day sales of Volumes 5 and 6. The series has surpassed 7.8 million copies in printed circulation for both physical and digital volumes according to the cover of its 7th volume, and the Manga can be found in the Shounen Jump+ magazine with some of its chapters readable for free in Japanese right here. As for its English version, you can read it through Manga Plus here.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Volume 21 experienced a slight dip in its first 4-day sales when compared to two of its past volumes. The 254,459 copies it has here is 1.24% higher than Volume 15’s 251,341 copies sold back in July 2020, but it is 1.45% and 12.30% down from Volumes 18 and 19. Adapting the Light Novel of the same name, the Manga is worked on by artist Taiki Kawakami which is being serialized in Kodansha’s monthly magazine Shounen Sirius. More about the title can be accessed through its official website here while the first Manga chapter can be read for free in Japanese here. The series, as of June 29 has 30 million copies in printed circulation (Source: Abema). The title was also adapted into TV Anime series by studio 8bit with the first season airing in 2019, and a split-cour released in 2021. It has a film planned for release this coming November.

Dr. Stone makes its final volume debut sitting in at Number 4 for the week at 156,319 copies sold in its first 7 days, an 8.99% improvement over Volume 19’s 143,422 copies sold back in January 2021. Worked on by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi, the title was serialized between March 2017 and March 2022 through Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine. The first 25 chapters of its Manga are currently up for free in Japanese right here while its official English translation can be found on Manga Plus here. The series has passed 14 million copies in circulation as of July the 4th this year (Source: Yahoo). The Manga was adapted into a TV Anime series by TMS Entertainment with a new season set to commence in 2023. Shueisha also released a short promotional video for its final volume of which you can watch below.

Then, Kimetsu Gakuen! Volume 2 is 5th on the list at 71,540 copies old in its first week, perhaps a slight improvement over Volume 1’s 53,363 copies sold in its first 6 days. The work is a spin-off title of Kimetsu no Yaiba which first began its serialization journey by artist Natsuki Hokami in August 2021 through the Saikyou Jump magazine. You can also watch its 9-minute video that reveals the 9th chapter to the public to celebrate the release of its latest volume below.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! In addition, all the data you find below is accessible via Oricon right here (Manga) and here (Series). If Google charts are what you prefer, you can find their respective links to the charts at the bottom of the post. Some titles that did not make it onto the Top 30 chart were also discussed in the COMIC ZIN’s chart here.

Mashle Volume 12 takes up the 6th spot at 62,380 copies sold in its first week, a 15.21% increase over Volume 4’s 54,144 copies, however the latest volume performance is a 33.23% and 8.38% fall from Volumes 8 and 11. The title is serialized in the Weekly Shounen Jump magazine of which more information about it can be obtained right here through its official page. Its first chapter can be read for free in Japanese here while its English version can be found on Manga Plus here. The series is expecting an Anime adaptation in 2023 as announced through a video released by Aniplex on July 3 this year. You can watch the video down below.

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Sayonara Eri is 7th on the list at 55,177 copies sold in its first week, way below expectation considering it was able to produce better results with Look Back last year which debuted at 73,912 copies sold in its first 3 days.

At Number 9, you will find Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken – Yuusha Avan to Gokuen no Maou Volume 5 at 43,714 copies sold in its first 7 days which is rather stable when compared to its two past volumes. Volume 3 debuted at 30,069 copies sold in its first 4 days while Volume 4 saw 26,594 copies in its first 3 days. The Shueisha title is serialized in the V-Jump magazine and is a direct sequel to the 1989’s Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken series. Some of its chapters can be read for free in Japanese right here. You can also watch a short promotional video released by V-Jump last month below to promote the work.

Isekai Izakaya “Nobu” which charts in at Number 10 with its 15th volume sees 42,974 copies sold in its first 7 days. Together with its pre-sales, that should put its year-to-date sales at 69,772 copies sold. That said, its sales performance is not looking so good if we extract out the pre-sales. Its 7-day performance for Volume 15 is 6.41% weaker than Volume 13’s 45,918 copies sold and not as good as even the 3-day sales of Volumes 11, 12 and 14. Adapted from the Light Novel of the same name, the work by artist Virginia Nitouhei is serialized in the Young Ace magazine by KADOKAWA with some of its chapters can be read for free right here in Japanese. According to a Tweet by the artist, the series has breached 5 million copies in circulation as of July 4. The series was also adapted into a 24-episode Anime series by studio Sunrise in April of 2018. In addition to that, you can watch a short commercial video released on July 5 to promote the work, voiced by Suzuko Mimori.

Gokushufudou Volume 10 is next at Number 11 with 42,596 copies sold in its first 4 days. Its sales trend continues to project a decline as its latest volume sees a 37.74% reduction in copies sold when compared to Volume 8 which managed to push out 68,420 copies sold between September 6 and September 12 last year in its first 4 days. After reaching a peak with Volume 6, its sales performance has not been able to build on the momentum, with its latest volume could very well be its worst to date. The work is serialized in the Kurage Bunch magazine with more information about it can be found here. The series was also adapted into a 10-episode TV Anime series that was aired in a 2-cour format in 2021. Some of its chapters can be read for free in Japanese right here.

Koko wa Ore ni Makasete Saki ni Ike to Itte kara 10-nen ga Tattara Densetsu ni Natteita. Volume 9 makes a good impression in its first 4 days as the volume sees 39,041 copies sold, slightly better than the 47,704 copies sold it had for Volume 8 in its first 7 days. Square Enix’s title is actually an adaptation of the Light Novel of the same name and is serialized in the Manga UP! magazine. More information about the work can be accessed through its official page here while its first chapter can be read for free right here in Japanese if you would like to have a look.

Gakuen Babysitters Volume 23 is placed at Number 14 with 35,759 copies sold in its first 6 days, a 2.88% drop over Volume 22’s 36,818 copies sold back in October last year. Then, Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken’s spin-off title, Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Volume 6 can be found at Number 15 at 34,253 copies sold in its first 4 days with sales being rather consistent when compared to its last. Volume 5 made its debut the year before in March at 44,875 copies sold in its first 5 days. At Number 17 is Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama Volume 36 at 32,753 copies sold. Its appearances on the charts have been infrequent as it was only last seen on the Top 30 chart way back in October 2020 with Volume 31.

Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san Volume 14 is 18th on the list at 31,560 copies sold in its first 3 days, its worst performance to date when compared to other volumes with the same number of days of sales. The latest volume is 18.28%, 29.59%, 17.16%, 9.83%, 5.25% and 10.51% lower than the performances of Volumes 6 to 11 (note that sales for Volume 9 is based on an estimate since it did not make it onto the Top 30 chart then). The Manga is serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine pocket with some of its chapters can be read for free right here in Japanese. You can also check out its Chapter 1 preview here in English through Kodansha USA. As of February this year, the series has surpassed 2.6 million copies in printed circulation (Source: Animate Times). The title was also blessed with a 12-episode TV Anime series produced by Doga Kobo which aired recently between April 10 and July 10.

Head down further, we have Aru Hi, Ohimesama ni Natte Shimatta Ken ni Tsuite Volume 7 taking the 19th spot at 31,407 copies sold in its first 6 days, not as good as the 3-day sales of Volume 6 back in February this year at 27,473 copies sold in its first 3 days. And finally, Kizoku Tensei: Megumareta Umare kara Saikyou no Chikara wo Eru Volume 5 is 22nd on the list at 29,921 copies sold in its first 4 days, an improvement over Volume 4’s 31,433 copies sold in its first 6 days.
