Japan Top Weekly Manga Ranking: February 14, 2022 ~ February 20, 2022

Tokyo Revenger makes its 26th volume debut at 522,222 copies sold in its first 4 days, slightly down from the 3-day sales it had for Volume 25 which saw 500,480 copies sold back in December last year. Kingdom which places 2nd on the list with its 64th volume remains stagnated as copies sold could not improve from its past volumes at 347,918 copies in 3 days, down from Volumes 62 and 63 which had 349,862 copies and 348,343 copies sold respectively within the same number of days.

Many of the titles that you see below have been discussed in the TSUTAYA’s sales chart for the same week, so do have a look at it right here. Some titles that did not make it onto the Top 30 chart were also discussed in the COMIC ZIN’s chart here.

Uma Musume Cinderella Gray Volume 6 is 3rd at 96,815 copies sold in its first 3 days, failing to repeat the success of its 5th volume that sold 115,060 copies the same number of days back in December 2021. Nevertheless, copies sold are still very positive for its 6th volume. “Oshi no Ko” Volume 7 rises a small 1.92% to 62,426 copies sold from Volume 6’s debut.

The spin-off title of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, Maomao no Koukyuu Nazotoki Techou can be found at Number 6 at 52,034 copies in its first 3 days, which is a rather positive outcome considering its last performance was 77,884 copies sold in 6 days for Volume 12. Kanojo, Okarishimasu copies sold are still not as good as its past volumes, particularly between Volumes 17 and 21. Note that 4-day sales for Volume 17 were at 70,967 copies sold in its first 4 days whereas Volume 21 were at 66,319 copies. The outcome of Volume 25’s performance is a lot closer to Volume 12 at 40,736 copies sold in its first 4 days.

Coming in at Number 8 is Bakemonogatari Volume 16 with its Regular Edition at 39,262 copies sold. Head all the way down to Number 26, and you will find its Special Edition at 17,894 copies, putting both editions at a solid 57,156 copies in its first 4 days, its best sales so far since Volume 12.

Bottom 11 to 30 features a slew of new releases. Some of which you may want to pay attention to would be Yofukashi no Uta Volume 10 at 27,644 copies sold in 3 days, though at quite a lower turnout compared to Volume 9 at 40,409 copies in its first 4 days. Fruits Basket: Another makes its final volume debut at 27,273 copies sold in just 3 days while Tonikaku Kawaii Volume 19 is two spots below at 24,006 copies in 3 days as well. Number 29 is Fumetsu no Anata e’s 17th volume at 16,835 copies in 4 days. Note that it is expected to receive a sequel this coming Fall of 2022.

As for weekly ranking by series, the strong performance for Boku no Hero Academia the Movie: World Heroes’ Mission disc sales thrust it to the 1st position amassing a great amount of sales for the week at 420.4 million yen (≈3.65 million USD). The series is also slated for its 6th Anime TV series season coming this Fall 2022. If you missed out on the promotional video do check it out down below. 

Tokyo Revengers is 2nd on the list, thanks to the release of its 26th volume pushing sales to see 381.7 million yen (≈3.31 million USD) in revenue for the week. A spot below is Idolish7 at 238.6 million yen (≈2.07 million USD)
