Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 19 grabs a hold of the Number 1 spot, overtaking One Piece Volume 102 as it sold 1,093,519 copies for the week between April 4 and April 10 in the first 7 days. Coupled with the Special Edition that comes in 8th place, we have a total of 1,160,230 copies sold for the latest volume. Note that pre-sales of Volume 19 had already made onto the list the week before at 66,684 copies, most likely in the first 3 days. This will bring the total copies sold so far to 1,226,914, not as great as the 3-day sales of Volume 16. However, the Special Edition is priced at 4,200 yen (≈33 USD) a piece, which has allowed it to drive a higher revenue compared to Volume 16. Copies sold are expected to weaken the week after, but will continue to persist and should see it placed on the Top 10, retaining its Number 1 position.
Now, One Piece’s sales performance is not that bad at all for having hit 1,050,333 copies for its 102nd volume in the first 7 days. If we consider what it made for pre-sales the prior week, its cumulative sales would be 1,262,255 copies sold, a very good turnout. Yet, this is still sales that occurred for more than a week, a downgrade from the 4-day sales of Volume 98 back in February 2021 which saw the volume at a high 1,237,929 copies sold in the first 4 days. If you go back a little further, Volume 93 was even better at 1,378,177 copies sold in its first 4 days. It is doubtful that copies sold would bounce back the week after, but we could measure its two-week performance to see if the drop it will face would narrow down so as to not contribute to more decline in its sales trend.
The Anime adaptation that is currently being broadcast has certainly helped Spy x Family Volume 9 in achieving record sales to date. Copies sold are at a high 606,281 copies, a 11.34% increase from the 7-day sales of Volume 6. The TV Anime Series is also helping boost sales of its past volumes as can be seen with the re-emergence of Volume 8 at Number 20 with 31,420 copies sold and Volume 4 at Number 30 with 23,673 copies sold. Wit Studio and CloverWorks are currently producing the 12-episode Anime adaptation of the title with the second cour expected to air in Fall Season of this year.
It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! In addition, all the data you find below is accessible via Oricon right here (Manga) and here (Series). If Google charts are what you prefer, you can find their respective links to the charts at the bottom of the post. Many of the titles that you see below have been discussed in the TSUTAYA’s sales chart for the same week, so do have a look at it right here. Some titles that did not make it onto the Top 30 chart were also discussed in the COMIC ZIN’s chart here.
Head over to Number 4 and the final volume of Takopii no Genzai makes its appearance with a great 198,505 copies sold in the first 7 days. A significant jump over Volume 1’s 41,277 copies sold back between February 28 and March 6 in its first 3 days. The 1st volume is still present on the chart settling for the 13th spot as copies sold recorded a 25.97% climb week-on-week to 56,145 copies. This would put the series lifetime sales to 494,944 copies (including Volume 2). If you would like to try out the Manga, you can do so via Manga Plus right here with all the chapters out in English.
It would seem that there is a sign of recovery in copies sold for Dragon Ball Super. The 18th volume in its first 7 days reported 141,454 copies sold which is a decent jump over Volume 13’s 112,997 copies sold in its first 6 days. The series was caught slightly on a shaky footing when its sales performance exhibited a decline, observable from Volumes 15 to Volume 17. For instance, Volume 15’s 3-day sales produced 74,292 copies back in April 2021, down by 21.88% from Volume 14’s 3 days of sales. It then recorded fewer copies sold for Volume 17 which 3-day sales were at 69,349 copies.
It is not looking so good for Black Clover as it places 6th for the week at 105,158 copies sold in the first 7 days for Volume 32. This would be its second consecutive full week drop. The first happened between Volume 27 and Volume 30 of which the copies sold were down by 13.92% debut-to-debut, and now the fall has narrowed between Volume 30 and Volume 32 by 7.28%. The cause is still unclear at this point, and its future volumes may continue to see further drops. Hopefully that would not be the case.
Next is Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Volume 26 at Number 7 with copies sold at 77,852 copies in the first 4 days, up by 18.29% from the 63,609 copies sold for Volume 21. This could potentially be its best performance to date considering the fact that it sold 81,747 copies for Volume 20 and 89,998 copies for Volume 24 in their full week. The title is expecting a sequel to its TV Anime series, slated for broadcast this coming Fall Season.
Skip over to Number 9 and you will find Yuukoku no Moriarty Volume 17 at 63,534 copies sold in the first 7 days, weaker than the 6-day sales of Volume 15 which sold 61,893 copies back in August 2021. Its sales performance also witnessed a small drop between the 3-day sales of Volume 14 and 16 by 5.17%.
Number 10 is Kinnikuman Volume 78 at 61,141 copies sold in the first 7 days, not as good as the 59,060 copies sold for Volume 77 back in January in the first 6 days. Kemono Jihen Volume 16 is right below at Number 11 with copies sold at 59,725 copies in the first 7 days, though its performance was much better for Volume 15 where it sold 45,662 copies in the first 4 days.
The spin-off title of Mairimashita! Iruma-kun is 12th on the list, Makai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da! makes its debut at 58,708 copies sold for its 9th volume. Unfortunately, the series is unable to escape from its decline. Copies sold for the 9th volume is 24.13% less than the 78,699 copies sold for Volume 5 back in April 2021, which was also most likely its best performance to date.
The latest title from Yuusei Matsui, the author of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu sees the 5th volume of its latest work, Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi clinching the 14th spot at 50,587 copies sold. The series had a good start to its sales performance where Volume 1 made its debut at 32,073 copies sold in the first 3 days. It however could not push for higher sales despite having a day longer for Volume 5 when compared to Volume 4’s 50,819 copies sold in the first 6 days.
Having been serialized for around twenty years now, Boukenou Beet is 15th with its 16th volume at 44,989 copies in the first 7 days. At Number 17 would be Getsuyoubi no Tawawa Volume 4 at 41,618 copies sold. Do not forget that its Special Edition (also called the Blue Edition in Japanese) copies are at Number 29 on the list at 23,826 copies, putting its total sales together at 65,444 copies. Note that the Special Edition is also priced higher at 909 yen (≈7 USD) compared to its Regular Edition’s 660 yen (≈5 USD).
Isekai Nonbiri Nouka, the Manga adaptation of the Light Novel of the same name can be seen at Number 18 with the entrance of its 9th volume at 3 days of sales. Copies sold are at 39,754 copies, a minor drop from the 42,037 copies sold for Volume 6 back in August 2020 by 5.43%. Note that the title also faced another drop prior to this which occurred between Volume 5 and Volume 8, both in their first 4 days.
Other new releases on the chart would be Number 19’s Yowamushi Pedal Volume 77 at 31,813 copies in the first 4 days, a small improvement over Volume 76’s 37,509 copies in the first 6 days back in February. Another Shueisha title, Witch Watch Volume 5 can be found at Number 22 at 29,218 copies sold in the first 7 days. The title was last seen for Volume 4, also in February this year, at 17,397 copies in its first 3 days. Akuyaku Reijou Tensei Ojisan is 25th on the list at 26,724 copies in its first 6 days, then Yakumotatsu Arata Volume 6 is placed at Number 26 with 26,383 copies sold in the first 6 days while Ride-On King Volume 8 settles for spot Number 27 at 24,471 copies in its first 4 days.
