Then, at Number 3 is Boku no Hero Academia 5th Season Volume 2 at 1,014 copies sold. Volume 1 could not impress in its first week of release to see itself failing to place a spot on Oricon’s Top 20 Blu-ray chart, though it is expected to have sold around 1,000 copies at the time. Nevertheless, this time around Volume 2 does well enough to rank both on the Blu-ray and DVD charts, accumulating 1,494 copies worth of sales in 5 days.

A spot below is the Blu-ray Box release of the 2017 Anime series, Isekai Shokudou. The MSRP for the product is set at 24,200 yen (~216 USD) a piece, and it contains several interesting features such as: the Original Soundtrack, a Novel, a Booklet and many more! Copies sold however is not as good as hoped at 915 copies sold. The upcoming sequel for the series is set to begin its broadcast soon on October the 2nd, so do check out its promotional video below!

The fourth and final new release on the Top 10 chart belongs to the 1st volume of Tropical-Rouge! Precure at Number 7 with a meager 671 copies sold made in its first 5 days. Volume 4 is placed on the DVD chart, though sales were too low to make onto the Top 20 list.

The return of Kimetsu no Yaiba? It would seem that copies sold for the film have risen ahead of the Mugen Ressha-hen arc which is soon to be featured on TVs. The TV edition is said to consist of seven episodes, plus 70 new scenes, new music tracks, new open and ending animation, episode previews and new theme songs. You can expect it on popular streaming sites such as Crunchyroll and Funimation on October the 10th (Source: ANN 1, ANN 2). The title made 4,240 copies sold for the week, excluding the DVD version of Mugen Ressha-hen [Limited Edition].

  1. If only 86 released a week sooner things would have been different. but seriously how Boku no Hero Academia only sell around 1000 and it gets a season 6. I don’t get it, This proves it, BD sales is not the main factor and I the obvious things is that Boku no Hero Academia’s view rate in online platforms is high and it’s manga sales is also good so maybe that is enough, also we shouldn’t forget about the merchandise like action figure and stuff, I heard 86 done well in that department and in online platforms.

    1. You are right, if 86 was released a week earlier, it could easily be in the Top 10. And BD sales have not been the main indicator for a potential sequel since 2002… 😅 I will be posting something to address this later in fact! I finally got it done and am in the midst of editing. As long as 86 is doing well in other departments, there is a high chance it can get a sequel, though I must say, I can’t figure out what the production committee thinks at times 😔

      1. Funny you said that, Just now they Announced a sequel for “Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World” and i got to tell you this series is one of my favorites but man it didn’t sell too well in any Department specially bd and now it gets a season 2, Just like you I can’t figure out what the production committee thinks ether. the only thing that might have played a big role in this situation is the amount of budget they put for the production of those animes for example this anime and “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” they were both made by Silver Link and we both now that Studio is not an expensive one and the funny thing is that bd sale number of “The Misfit” were nearly identical to 86 and it got a season 2 with 2 cour (part). but A1 Picture made 86 and you don’t need to think to realize the amount of time and money they put in this anime.

      2. I just saw the news! And, I do get you. Some titles that you least expect to get a follow up ends up getting one, yeah? I am pretty sure the production committee would look at some indicators before jumping in to decide what gets made or what doesn’t, but I can’t seem to fully grasp what are these indicators, or perhaps there are just too many variables taking place that makes it hard to predict. A1 seems to at times not keen on making sequels for some of their IPs which I think can be quite successful, Sword Art Online has been consistently on their “to do list”, but titles such as: Gin no Saji, Hai to Gensou no Grimgar even Uchuu Kyoudai have been left out. 86 really needs to impress the folks there to warrant a sequel. I think merchandise sales can go far for the title. But hey! If Hataraku Maou-sama! can get a sequel announced 8 years later, there is still a lot of hope going, just that please not let us wait for another 8 years ha… haha
