Blu-ray and DVD sales for the week between October 18 and October 24 sees its normal routine of a slow down on the third week amid a lack of new notable releases. Violet Evergarden Movie remains steadfast as it heads into its 2nd week on the chart. Both versions of its Blu-rays are present at Number 1 and 5 with copies sold at 2,723 copies and 1,587 copies respectively. The DVD edition maintains its Number 1 spot albeit a severe decline to 944 copies sold from prior week’s 10,139 copies. This would put its total sales at 5,254 copies and its lifetime sales at 94,230 copies.

While sales do appear sluggish, there are a number of new releases that impress for the week, for instance SSSS.Dynazenon 4th and final volume which comes in both at Number 2 and 6 respectively. Interestingly, the amount of copies sold for its 4th volume’s Regular Edition is unchanged from Volume 3, both of which sold 2,414 copies in their first 5 days. What are the odds, yes? However, it is the 4th volume’s Special Edition that noted better improvement debut-to-debut. Copies sold are up by 9.54% to 1,551 copies from the 1,403 copies for Volume 3’s Special Edition. As a result, its discs run ends on a positive note, recording its best performance ever.

Number 3’s Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S Volume 2 too records a small increase in copies sold compared to Volume 1’s 3,167 copies. Volume 2’s Deluxe and Limited Edition reports slightly more than 3,200 copies sold. And then there is Godzilla: S.P Singular Point Volume 3 at Number 4 at 2,008 copies sold, down from Volume 2’s 2,071 copies it made back between September 20 to September 26. Note that this would be its final Blu-ray volume.

At Number 7 is the last new release you will find on the Top 10 list, and it belongs to the classic, 1987 re-release of Kimagure Orange☆Road in Blu-ray. That said, it comes with a hefty price of 33,000 yen (≈290 USD) a piece, yet contains all 48 episodes, 8 OVAs and the theatrical film “Ano Hi ni Kaeritai“.

Violet Evergarden Movie leads in terms of copies sold for the week, but it is Kimagure Orange☆Road that steals the show as the cost of its Blu-ray launches it to take the lead in the sales department. The series is 1st at 48.51 million yen (≈426.44 thousand USD), and Violet Evergarden Movie is 2nd at a strong 43.92 million yen (≈386.10 thousand USD). 3rd place belongs to SSSS.Dynazenon Volume 4 at 42.34 million yen (≈372.26 thousand USD).
