This has got to be the worst week so far for both Anime Blu-ray and DVD with all except for one seeing copies sold dipped below 1,000 copies. The onslaught is clearly felt even by Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai‘s Volume 5, which suffered the worst Week 2 performance among its Blu-ray releases. As a result, Volume 5 sees itself selling the least as two-week sales only amount to 17,990 copies, the highest was Volume 1 with 24,554 copies sold.

It is thanks to the wonderful folks over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! All the data you find below can be found here (Blu-ray) and here (DVD).
Despite the lack of new releases, we do see the chart feature the latest volume of Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun on its list. However, sales were abysmal. The title’s third volume only managed to sell 565 copies for the week. It did manage to get onto Oricon’s Top 10 chart for Anime Blu-ray before, but sales were too low for it to be ranked in the Top 20 Blu-ray sales chart.
It is unsure what the cause for the lackluster performance this week. It does coincides with Japan announcing a state of emergency brought upon as a result of the pandemic. It was recently announced that the government has planned to extend the state of emergency till May 31, which includes two additional prefectures onto the list being Fukuoka and Aichi (source: NHK). Let’s observe how this will impact sales from next week onward.
That said, the following week’s roster is not as encouraging as well. We will see Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle – Rhyme Anima, which should perform well as long as sales turn out to be above 6,000 copies sold. Hataraku Saibou!!‘s Volume 4 will also be released the following week, but don’t count much on it to sell well. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
