Sales of Anime Blu-rays are sluggish for the week between March 30 and April 5 according to Oricon’s latest chart available here (Blu-ray) and here (DVD) with the highest estimated number of sales – belonging to Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu – Hyouketsu no Kizuna – debuted at only 5,489 copies sold. The week before (March 23 ~ March 29) saw Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!: Kurenai Densetsu selling 13,799 copies though sales for the film plunged considerably (90.43%) to 1,320 copies for the week between March 30 – April 5. This is however expected as no noticeable titles made into the release window.
It is thanks to Oricon that we are able to see the charts on a weekly basis, therefore don’t hesitate to give them a visit here and show them some love!
Even though the week between April 6 – April 12 will see only a handful of titles released, I think we can predict that some of these titles will make into the top 10 chart for the week. These are the titles to be released specifically on the 8th of April as there are no other releases scheduled other than the day:
1. Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica Gaiden (Amazon)
2. GRANBLUE FANTASY The Animation Season 2 (Amazon)
3. Strike the Blood IV (Amazon) (Amazon)
From the list above, it is highly probable that all will make into the top 10 for the week between April 6 – April 12 with Granblue most likely taking the top spot. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether if the copies sold would be good as Japan has announced a state of emergency on Tuesday (April 7, 2020) and some major cities were reported to have seen a sharp decline in human activities. Although physical copies can still be ordered online, we can only hope that sales can somewhat still be reliable for the following week.
As mentioned before, Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu – Hyouketsu no Kizuna tops the week’s chart and is followed by Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso Blu-ray Disc Box while Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! settles for third. There are no more other new titles, at the same time: Ensemble Stars! Vol. 7 and Love Live! Sunshine!! Fan Disc – Aqours Memories – both reported drop in sales.
