The two new releases mentioned the week before made into Oricon’s chart as expected with Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld (Sword Art Online) leading the charge. The title saw the debut sales for its Volume 8 improved over Volume 7’s — which sold 8,234 copies in its first week — with 8,975 copies sold for the week between December 7 to December 12. Together, with sales of its DVDs, the title managed a healthy 10,253 worth of copies sold for its 8th volume in its first week. Sword Art Online was not the only one that experienced better sales debut as Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited‘s 3rd volume too witnessed a small climb in the number of copies sold. By nearly 6%, the series’ 3rd volume sales climbed to 1,421 copies over Volume 2’s 1,337 copies back in November.

At number 3 is Frozen II which had modest growth for the week. Sales improved by 21% week-on-week to reach 1,268 copies. Fret not, the following week will have a modest amount of releases including: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Raihousha-hen and Haikyuu!!: To the Top, but expect sales to continue to be slow since most new releases are concentrated in the Christmas week.
