The reshot and high-resolution release of Evangelion: 3.333 You Can (Not) Redo steals the top spot with 17,344 copies sold for the Limited Pressing edition while the title’s Regular Edition places 6th at 4,344 copies sold, and thus allowing it to see a total of 21,688 copies sold in its debut week! Note that, a western release was made available in 2016, and are mostly sold out everywhere, though if you are planning to still get it, eBay still has it here.
It is thanks to the amazing people over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them tonnes of love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Oricon right here (Blu-ray) and here (DVD).
The rest on the list is filled with new titles with the exception of Uma Musume: Pretty Derby (TV) Season 2 Volume 4 which stumbles a massive 95.03% week-on-week after a great debut it made the week before. A spot over at Number 3 is Zombieland Saga: Revenge Volume 3 at 6,262 copies sold. Sales are slightly better for the volume compared to Volume 2’s 6,151 copies, yet this it still a little far from Volume 1’s 6,925 copies sold in its first week. The final volume of SK∞ is at 4th place with 5,147 copies sold. In addition to sales of its Blu-rays, the title can also be found at Number 3 on the DVD sales chart with 1,775 copies sold. Together, it sees a comfortable 6,922 copies sold, a 10.52% increase debut-to-debut over Volume 5’s 6,194 copies. This is in fact, its 2nd best debut sales performance, down only by 22 copies from Volume 2’s 6,942 copies sold. The debut sales alone has the title amassing 39,763 copies worth of sales in its home market, bringing approximately $2.5 million in revenue.

“Uchuu Senkan Yamato” to Iu Jidai: Seireki 2202-nen no Sentaku, a compilation of the Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2202: Ai no Senshi-tachi series sets in at 5th place with 4,687 copies sold, and sales of its DVDs have provided a further boost allowing it to generate 6,201 copies sold in total in its first week. BANDAI NAMCO Arts through its Youtube channel actually released the first 22 minutes of the film (with no subs) which is viewable down below. So, do check it out! A sequel is planned for release this coming October 2021 titled “Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Zenshou: Take Off“.
Studio Bones‘ Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi sees a rather poor debut at 3,685 copies sold as it ranks at Number 7 for the week. The film was initially released in theatres nationwide after a delay due to the pandemic, and the film was screened in the US and Canada from July 12th to 14th. At Number 8, you will find Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song Volume 3, which is its best performer so far. Volume 1 saw its debut sales at 3,397 copies sold whereas Volume 2 at 3,442 copies sold.
Finally, RWBY Volume 5 and Super Cub place 9th and 10th spots respectively. However, due to stiff competition by other non-Anime releases, the two failed to chart on the Top 20 Blu-ray sales. Note that, some notable releases such as Horimiya Volume 7, 86 Volume 2, Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Volume 2 etc. are missing from the Top 20 too. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
