Japan Top 14 Weekly Light Novel Ranking: January 3, 2022 ~ January 9, 2022

There are only two new releases that make it onto the chart for the week between January 3 to January 9, first is Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? Volume 16 with both Regular and Special Editions making an impressive debut of 13,944 copies sold in just two days! Note that it already did very well with the releases of its 15th volumes of which they sold 17,579 copies in their first 3 days between December 6 and December 12. This time around, the Special Edition takes charge for the 16th volume, sitting in at Number 3 with 7,574 copies while the Regular Edition is a spot lower at Number 3 at 6,370 copies. As such, the title is looking at roughly 20,399,400 yen (≈179.34 thousand USD) in estimated revenue for the week. The series has also inspired adaptations in the form of an Anime series which ran between January 8, 2021 to July 3, 2021 and an ongoing Manga serialization via KADOKAWA’s Young Ace Up magazine. The two Light Novels and Manga of the series are also out in English with up to 13 volumes available for the Light Novel while Manga is currently at Volume 9. Both are published by Yen Press. The series is also said to have exceeded 4.3 million copies in circulation according to the Volume 16’s cover.

The second new release belongs to Seijo ja Nakatta node, Oukyuu de Nonbiri Gohan wo Tsukuru Koto ni Shimashita Volume 6 at Number 13 with 2,872 copies sold in its first 2 days. The title revolves around the protagonist, Rina who was summoned into another world as a saint. There is a Manga adaptation of the same name serialized in Flos Comic which is accessible here via Comic Walker. You can also check out the first chapter in Japanese via this link here. According to the volume’s cover, the series has now passed 300,000 copies in printed circulation.

As for others, most are past titles with the novelizations of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie still going strong at Number 1 and 2 albeit a drop in sales week-on-week. Both editions are at 25,442 copies sold, down 27.92%. The non-Mirai Bunko edition’s lifetime sales have now passed 61,896 copies. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Volume 28’s lifetime sales would be 30,516 copies, Number 10’s Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Aalya-san Volume 3 would be 58,532 copies, and Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Volume 19 is at 125,805 copies sold.
