Analysis
Nisio Isin’s Monogatari Series latest addition to the family, Ikusamonogatari fails to impress in its first five days of release when compared to other past volumes of which the 17,468 copies it sold are less by 79.57%, 84.07%, 86.23%, 87.55%, 38.16%, 44.93% and 11.12% against Nekomonogatari Volume 2, Hanamonogatari, Otorimonogatari, Koimonogatari, Mazemonogatari, Amarimonogatari and even the latest, Ougimonogatari respectively. Other volumes of the past with fewer days of sales such as Tsukimonogatari at four days and Kabukimonogatari at two days were all significantly higher than the latest volume. Both of which sold 117,362 copies and 45,987 copies respectively. All in all, in terms of general Light Novel sales, the 17,468 copies sold is still a good outcome.
Additional Comments
The Ikusamonogatari volume is the first book of the Family Season and contains the story “Hitagi Honeymoon”. The latest volume is the 23rd part of the Monogatari Series and is 29th book overall.

The series last made an appearance with its Light Novel Volume 3 and Volume 6 at 4,922 copies and 4,470 copies sold in their first five days and four days respectively. Had the volume gone on one additional day, it may have struggled to repeat the sales of Volume 6, but it may have seen an identical outcome as to Volume 3’s performance if it had sold two more days.
It also has a Manga adaptation by artist Takafumi Oomae that is serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine pocket with some of its chapters available for reading right here in Japanese for free.
