Japan Top 12 Weekly Light Novel Sales Ranking: July 31 – August 6, 2023

Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon Volume 7 has sold 145,224 copies in its first 24 days.

Seirei Gensouki made its weakest six-day sales debut with Volume 24 which 7,836 copies sold represents a drop of 14.93%, 15.91% and 29.77% against Volumes 17, Volume 18 and Volume 21. Despite the longer days of sales against many of its past volumes, the latest volume is also down against the two-day sales of Volume 15 at 8,508 copies, and among others, lower than the five-day and four-day sales of Volume 16 and Volume 19 at 11,619 copies and 9,115 copies respectively.

The latest volume is titled “Yami no Seika” or the “Sacred Flame of Darkness”.

Seirei Gensouki was first published in October 2015 where it was later adapted into a Manga series that was unfortunately discontinued in 2016. A year later, it started anew with another Manga adaptation by a different artist, Futago Minazuki. In 2021, the series was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series by TMS Entertainment with a sequel set to follow suit in 2024.

The three-day sales of Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Volume 20 are lower than Volume 17 and Volume 19 by 2.37% and 11.66% respectively. However, the newest volume is ahead of Volume 13, Volume 15 and Volume 16 by 7.45%, 18.62% and 12.85%. It would seem that the Anime adaptation is only having a minor effect onto sales of its Light Novels.

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series in October 2020 by EMT Squared. From April 3 to June 19, 2023, the sequel, Punch! was aired and worked on by the same studio.

Please note that including its pre-release sales, Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu Volume 12 has sold a total of 7,883 copies. When the debut sales for the week alone is compared to Volume 10, it is down by a small 2.71%. The 12th volume seven-day performance here is not as great as Volume 11 which did 8,200 copies in its first five days. This may indicate that the influence of the Anime on the physical sales of the series’ Light Novel have waned slightly.

The series has a Manga adaptation that is being serialized in Dra-Dra Sharp# by artist Jun Shiosato where some of its chapters can be freely read in Japanese right here. In April 2022, Kadokawa’s studio ENGI (of which it owns by 53%) adapted the work into a 12-episdoe TV Anime series. It was confirmed that the series’ TV Anime is set to return with a second season, though much information about it is still unknown at the time of writing.

Higeki no Genkyou to Naru Saikyou Gedou Last Boss Joou wa Tami no Tame ni Tsukushimasu. has noted a minor increase of 4.98% in terms of debut sales against Volume 6, both within the first five days. The series also made its debut on Oricon’s list with Volume 5 at 3,552 copies in seven days, making this latest result the best among the latest three volumes.

The series’ TV Anime adaptation by OLM Team Yoshioka is currently airing this season of which the first episode was released on July 7, 2023..

Ano Otome Game wa Oretachi ni Kibishii Sekai desu was last seen making its debut with Volume 1 at 5,189 copies sold in its first five days in December 2022.

The work also has a Manga adaptation ongoing by artist Renji Fukuhara that began its serialization on June 15 via  Dra-Dra Flat♭, 2023. More about the title can be learned on its official webpage here while its first chapter can be read for free in Japanese right here.

Kyuutei Majutsushi no Konyakusha was last seen with its 1st volume selling 2,780 copies within its first five days back in May 2022.
