Japan Top 10 Weekly Light Novel Ranking: October 26, 2020 ~ November 1, 2020

Sales of Light Novels have stayed relatively the same for the week between October 26 to November 1, except for a number of new faces making the chart for the week which includes: Ougimonogatari, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! Yorimichi! and Suimen no Tsuki Nijyuurasen. Given the popularity of the first two, we may very well see the numbers going up the following week. That said, I was pretty sure that the Monogatari series were pretty much done to begin with, thus it came in as a surprise. While Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! Yorimichi! is a side story of the main series, it has been gaining traction in Japan. Volume one of the title sold 23,956 copies in its first week back in January.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! The data you find below is available here via Oricon.

Apart from that, the novelizations of Kimetsu no Yaiba’s film experienced a small drop in sales, but its other titles have climbed for the week. Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka dropped 55%, ending the week with 11,115 copies sold. That should put the total of copies sold for its Volume 16 at 99,416 copies. It should be able to breach 100,000 copies the following week. Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e: 2-nensei-hen did not manage a rise for the week between October 26 to November 1, yet the total combined sales of its Volume 3 for the first two weeks would put it at 76,066 copies, which is a very good number. It will most likely stay on in the chart for the next period, if all goes well the number should be either around 90,000 copies or more (let’s be positive).

  1. This is confusing,

Youkoso light novel sales were around 47k in previous week sales. How did it reach upto 39k sales after such a long period of time ?

If it was 47k sales in it’s first week, then it’s sales should’ve dropped even more lower, probably around 20k or even lower. But it has only dropped to 39k sales.

    1. Well before, Youkoso’s latest volume was just released within a short span of time, and the previous chart takes into account the sales of the volume for its first two days. Like another user mentioned the other day, thus why the sales were not as high. However, Youkoso’s volume three managed to stay around longer, hence the drop is a lot slower.

On a side note, there are titles that rise on their second week, and that happens rather frequently with Light Novels. Which is quite bizarre to me. More data is needed to understand why it happens.
