Japan Top 10 Weekly Light Novel Ranking: August 16, 2021 ~ August 22, 2021

The Monogatari Series duo Nisio Isin and VOFAN proof to still be a powerhouse as their latest addition to the Monogatari Series, Shinomonogatari places 1st and 2nd for the week between August 16 to August 22 at 17,685 copies and 17,231 copies sold respectively. This would put its sales as a series at 34,916 copies sold in total. The Shinomonogatari arc comprises only of two volumes in total and is said to contain the stories of Shinobu Suicide and Nadeko Around (Source: Wiki). Kodansha also released a promotional video related to the title very recently, so do check it out below!

Coming in at Number 3 is Chitose-kun wa Ramune Bin no Naka Volume 6 at 7,807 copies sold, the story revolves around a womanizer whose name is Saku Chitose who one day was entrusted with the recovery of a certain shut-in student (Source: Wiki). At Number 5 is a series you may be familiar with, Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta… Volume 11’s Limited Edition is at 6,580 copies sold whereas its Regular Edition can be found two spots below at Number 8 at 4,696 copies sold. In total that should put it at a good 11,276 copies sold in its first week. Note that the title is having its second season Anime adaptation broadcasted as we speak, the first season was featured back in 2020 with the same studio SILVER LINK. at the helm of the project. You can find another new release all the way down at Number 13, Ore wa Subete o “Parry” Suru: Gyaku Kanchigai no Sekai Saikyou wa Boukensha ni Naritai Volume 3 which is a rather new series at 3,727 copies sold.

As for others, sales remain quite strong for Mamoru Hosoda’s Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime as it now enters its 10th week on the chart. While sales have dipped 22.59% week-on-week, its ten-week sales have allowed it to breach the 100,000 copies sold! Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon Volume 5 at Number 6 is now on its 6th week with total of copies sold so far at 139,714 copies.

Kyoto Teramachi Sanjou no Holmes Volume 17 is 7th as it slips 51.89% week-on-week to 5,225 copies sold. As a result, its three-week sales are now at 31,009 copies! Boku no Hero Academia the Movie 3: World Heroes’ Mission at Number 9 has also seen fewer copies sold week-on-week as it falls 44.66% to 4,135 copies sold from previous week’s 7,610 copies. At Number 10, you will find Honzuki no Gekokujou Part 5 Vol. 6 slumping hard by 81.74% from the prior week, though its two-week sales remain at a strong 26,736 copies.

Tensai Ouji no Akaji Kokka Saisei Jutsu: Souda, Baikoku shiyou Volume 10 which failed to make the chart the week before places 11th at 3,957 copies sold. Note that the title is set to receive an Anime adaptation in Winter 2022 under Yokohama Animation Lab. Finally, Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. Volume 1 settles for the 12th place at 3,895 copies sold. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
