Japan Top 10 Weekly Anime Blu-ray and DVD Ranking: March 7, 2022 ~ March 13, 2022

I cannot recall when was the last time I saw lists as dry as these before. None of the titles listed on both Anime Blu-ray and DVD charts for the week between March 7 and March 13 have breached the Oricon Top 20 Blu-ray and DVD charts. Note that the cutoff point on the Top 20 chart for Blu-ray is at 998 copies while DVD is at 529 copies. As such, all of the titles that you see below have sold below those numbers. One possible explanation for the weak turnout would be the lack of new releases as pointed out in my post the week before. That said, sales for Anime titles should pick up the following week, so do keep an eye out for that.

The Top 10 Anime chart for the week witnesses two new releases. The first being Number 2’s Kihachirou Kawamoto / Tadanari Okamoto Sakuhinshuu 4K Shuufuku-han while the second belongs to Number 8’s The Little Mermaid MovieNEX which comes with an outer case. Kihachirou Kawamoto was a Japanese animator and served as the president of Japan Animation Association from 1989 until he passed away in 2010. Tadanari Okamoto was an independent animator where he completed 37 short films until his death in 1990. The Blu-ray set, which comes with English subtitles contains the collected works of the two.
