Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen (TV)’s 1st volume leads the chart for the week between January 24 and January 30 with a whopping 30,167 copies sold as both of its Blu-ray and DVD copies top their respective charts. The TV series serves as an alternative to the theatrical adaptation of the Mugen Ressha-hen arc which was released back in October 2020 in Japan. The seven episodes for the TV series were aired between October 2021 and November 2021 which consisted of several new additions such as 70 new animation cuts, new background music and an original first episode (Source: MAL). Coming in right after is the 5th volume of Love Live! Superstar!! with very good sales as usual. Its 15,199 copies sold is a direct improvement to Volume 4’s 13,087 copies, both of which were within their first 5 days of sales. Note that Volume 2 was also charted with 12,994 copies sold in its first 5 days, as such making Volume 5 as perhaps one of its best seller so far since Volume 3 may have had a better outcome had it sold two days longer (note that Volume 3 was charted at 3 days of sales). Its final volume will be out this month on February the 25th.

At Number 3 is IDOLiSH7: Third Beat! Volume 3 which is not at its best with 5,751 copies sold in its first 5 days. The series made its disc debut with 7,542 copies sold back in September 2021 in its first 6 days while the 2nd volume saw 14,030 copies sold in just 3 days. The 7,190 copies it has for Volume 3 (Blu-ray plus DVD) is not its weakest so far, but it could have done slightly better.
Though, what’s surprising on the list, and a good surprise for fans of Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu, would be the 1st volume of the series selling a good amount as it places 4th at 4,520 copies sold. This is a very, very good turnout considering the price for a single package. Nevertheless, note that the series will only have three volumes to be released, and it would seem that there are already good sales made for its future two volumes considering that they are sold out at some places.
As for Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica Gaiden (TV) 2nd Season – Kakusei Zenya Volume 3, this is by far its best performance thus far. The 3rd volume’s 2,452 copies is slightly better than Volume 1 and Volume 2 which had 2,452 copies and 2,587 copies sold, all in their first 5 days. Then, there is One Piece Eternal Log “SKYPIEA” at 2,337 copies sold in its first 3 days at Number 6.
At Number 7 you will find Visual Prison Volume 2 which 3,731 copies sold for both its Blu-ray and DVD are 17.93% down from Volume 1’s 4,546 copies sold back in December 2021 in their first 5 days. Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei Volume 5 is also on the list at 2,104 copies, but sales of its DVDs failed to make it onto the Oricon Top 20 chart. Finally, at Number 9 is Eighty-Six Volume 5 at 1,703 copies sold which experiences the same as Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei for its DVDs.
In terms of estimated revenue, the strong copies sold by Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen (TV) sees it tops the list with 110,274,000 yen (≈963.75 thousand USD), but not by a large margin. This is due to the cost of the Blu-ray and DVD being at 4,000 yen (≈35 USD) and 3,000 yen (≈26 USD) each. Love Live! Superstar!! Volume 5 is 2nd at 106,393,000 yen (≈929.81 thousand USD) while IDOLiSH7: Third Beat! Volume 3 is 3rd at 63,271,000 yen (≈552.95 thousand USD).
